till it happens in your heart
somewhere deep inside you
is where christmas really starts

that it's christmas,

KKB was educational but it was really tiring too.

then on Saturday, i went for a 1-day Mission Trip to Carey Island.
Ps. Henry K. Pillai is the man behind this Community Work with Ps. Maniam assisting him - where every other week, teachers from the mother church will be brought in to give the kids in Carey Island English tuition.
It started (2006) with 7 children and now (2009) over 120 kids attend the tuition classes every single week.
The 1-day Mission Trip was actually a Grace Carey Island Community Day for the people there.

Tall enough

Mum: so, how tall is he?

Girl: Tall enough.

Tall enough. That's all we need really. For the person to be ENOUGH. Flashy personalities. The whiz. Overzealous in being saint-like. Strings on the guitar. Making heads turn twice, sometimes more. That jaw line. His smile. Black glasses. The heart. Spirit that you can never keep. All those are nice. Great even. But really, all I need is what I can hold. What I want and what is enough. All he needs to be, all I want, tall enough. I'll wait.

how poor we really are

One day a wealthy family man took his son on a trip to the country so he could have his son see how poor country people were.
They stayed one day and one night in the farmhouse of a very humble farm.
On the way back home at the end of the trip the father asked the son, "What did you think of the trip?"
The son replied, "Very nice, Dad."
The father then asked, "Did you noticed how poor they were?"
The son replied, "Yes, I guess so."The father then added, "And what did you learn?"
To this question, the son thought for a moment and answered slowly,
"I learned that we have one dog in the house and they have four.
We have a fountain in the garden and they have a stream that has no end."
We have fancy lanterns in our garden, while they have the stars.
Our garden goes to the edge of our yard, but for their back yard they have the entire horizon!"
At the end of the son's reply, the rich father was speechless.
His son then added: "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we really are."

Are we as diverse as we think we are?

Is it a mere ploy? A shadow? To hide the truth. What is it really.

Jailing the innocent. Appointing the corrupt to be the leader of the people. Allowing to live below regular healthcare standards, Jet-setting big men to big countries for ambiguous reasons. Protest not for fair elections or policies but as to support the woman who drank one too many.

Is this what you were hiding all along? it's out. we all know. so what's next?

Are we really as un-united as said? truly different?

You and me. Or were we taught to be different? to see what's different. and to Criticize.

Divided by circumstance, political ploys, privilege and maybe sheer delusion.

But truly, we are the same.we're not one, not yet. but have faith. we'll get there. we must.
