it was my all time favourite Disney movie.. still is actually
i used to love the singing teacups & clockworks & who can resist the ever-charming candle
watched it again a few days ago, and then i realised.. Beauty & the Beast might have given wrong notions of love to girls & women alike.
it endorses the fact that a girl can change her man, or in this case her beast.
do women really believe so?
that Men, all kind of men, womanizers, abusers, the sweet talker,
can be change by love from his girl..
it gives the girl an illusion of supremacy that men can change,
after the first look.
after the first kiss,
after stumbling out of her bed,
after his next affair,
after marriage..
But can they really?
or is what u see, really.. what u get?
i love all Disney cartoons esp. the girly ones - Snow White, Cinderella, Little Mermaid ...it makes me wish that one day, some prince would come and sweep me off my feet and carry me into his beautiful palace and we'll live happily ever after ;)
ReplyDeletewell, who said that can't happen? lol. we are not very old yet you knw...life is still unfolding. and i believe that the man God has prepared for us will be the best one for us! He may not be a prince as in an heir to a physical-geographical kingdom. And… who says being a queen would be the greatest thing in life? *re-calls PrincessD*
having said that, i believe love is a very powerful force. it can drive people to climb mountains, wade rivers, undergo humiliation, deny themselves just to obtain it. it can definitely change someone/something but there is that thin line between changing for a short season just for personal gains and after that, revert back into a “beast” or really changing because the interest of the other person is placed above one self's.
